Belize City, the former capital of Central America’s youngest nation (1981), has been destroyed by too many hurricanes. The mountains now host the new capital, Belmopan. Today, Belize City remains the most populated city of the country, and is a main hub to reach the Caye islands by boat, or to catch a bus to go anywhere in the country.
A bit dodgy, don’t let yourself be put off by Belize City!
