Photo of the day: the path of philosophy, Kyoto

A friendly witch and her husband on a roof overlooking the path of philosphy in Kyoto. They must have witnessed many passers-by, strolling, meditating, taking pictures and gasping at the beauty of this trail. This path, along  a small canal is especially beautiful in the springtime as hundreds of blooming cherry trees colour the way pink on both sides. The path, scattered with boutiques and cafés, starts around our favourite Gingaku-ji temple and leads south along some others like the lesser-known Honen-in. Biking along this path, named after the influencial Japanese philosopher Kitaro Nishida, who used to walk it countless of times while meditating, one can discover many details like these two statues. Highly inspirational.
