Photo of the day: Onami crater lake, a run around the top of the volcano

Part of the Kirishima-Yaku National Park, the Ebino Kogen plateau is surrounded by volcanoes and lush forests. After a challenging trail run from the high lands at roughly 1200m, we reached the crater about 400m higher. The clouds came in fast and we had just enough time to peek into the crater to see this beautiful lake.

Beyond the inspirational vistas, the best part when running among volcanoes is to relax in an onsen afterwards. As we were soaking wet running back in the rain, the 45°C waters the hot spring were just what we needed!
