Photo of the day: Aoshima island shrine

Aoshima-jinja is a famous Shinto shrine because of its location on the sacred Aoshima island and the fact that it is dedicated to marriage.
The deities enshrined here are Yamasachihiko, his wife princess Toyotama, daughter of the god of the sea and the old man of the the sea, Shiotsuchi-no-Okina.We saw several young Japanese tying colorful bracelets with a coin to sacred trees as an offering so that the gods would ensure they would get married or protect their marriage.
